Obama: Turkey's right to defend itself
The President Barack Obama said today that supports Turkey's right to defend herself after shooting down Russian military plane by Turkish fighters across the Syrian border last week.
Obama made these statements after meeting with his Turkish counterpart Tayyip Erdogan in Paris, where he participates at the summit on climate.
"The United States supports Turkey's right to defend itself and its airspace," said Obama.
"We discussed how Turkey and Russia can work together to de-escalate tensions" and find a diplomatic way to resolve the issue, he said, as the Athenian Press Agency.
"As I have said to Mr. Erdogan, we have a common enemy and he is the Islamic State and I am sure we will focus on this threat," he said the US president.
