New evidence of extrajudicial executions by Israel
A Palestinian delegation headed by President of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas, met Friday with the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court and handed a file relating to recent "extrajudicial executions" of Palestinians by forcing it to investigate allegations of war crimes committed by Israel in Gaza in 2014.
The prosecutor Fatos Bensounta began in January preliminary examination to determine whether it has enough evidence to initiate an investigation for war crimes committed in the summer of 2014, during the war in the Gaza Strip.
"It is extremely important to accelerate the process," said Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Malki told reporters after meeting with Bensounta Hague.
"If Israel believes that it has immunity, what will prevent it multiply the victims?" he wondered. "We hope that the Court will conclude soon (...) that it has a solid foundation and enough evidence to prove that Israel committed war crimes and crimes against humanity," he added.
The Malki participated in the delegation, headed by Mahmoud Abbas. This was the first meeting between the Palestinian president and Fatos Bensounta after the Palestinian Authority joined the ICC in January.
From October 1, new conflicts and terrorist attacks against Israelis have killed more than 60 Palestinians and nine Israelis in the Palestinian Territories, Jerusalem and Israel. Half of Palestinians killed while committing attacks.
The new elements were delivered to the prosecutor concerning "extrajudicial killings, house destruction and collective punishments" explained Malki.
The Saeb Erekat, the number two of the Palestine Liberation Organization, said in a statement that the file contains data on "ethnic cleansing" and based on "verified photos and videos."
In the war on Gaza in the summer of 2014, killed 2,200 Palestinians --kyrios amachoi-- and 73 Israelis, mostly soldiers.
"We said (at pp prosecutor) that it is necessary to visit the occupied Palestinian territories and promised to continue to seek approval from the Israelis," continued the Minister.
One of the most controversial episodes of the War of 2014 is the bombing by Israel of UN schools were turned into shelters for the displaced.
Israel argues that Hamas was using these schools to store weapons or firing rockets.
