Pugeton call for a united political front for independence

Deputy Catalan President Carls Pugeton today called for a united political front in the December 21 elections to continue the effort to secede the province from Spain and to condemn the detention of former members of the regional government.

Pugeton, who fled to Belgium after his government was deprived after Catalonia's unilateral declaration of independence, said yesterday Friday that it is considering a bid for the Brussels elections.

In the most serious political crisis in Spain after the restoration of democracy in the late 1970s, Prime Minister Mariano Rahoy prompted early elections after taking control of Catalonia a week ago.

Political parties in this rich northeast region, who wish to work together, should make a request for a coalition until Tuesday.

"It is time for all Democrats to join forces. For Catalonia, for the freedom of political prisoners and for democracy, "Pyedemon wrote on Twitter with a hashtag" llistaunitaria.cat ", a website calling for the parties to join the polls against the Madrid government.

Spain has issued an arrest warrant against the Catalan leader and his four "ministers" in Belgium.

Pugeton said yesterday he was ready to co-operate with the Belgian judicial authorities, adding that he believes the Spanish judicial authorities are now politicized.
