Chancellor Angela Merkel is "out of reality," said today's Social Democratic Party (SPD) candidate for chancellery, Martin Schultz, raising tons one month before parliamentary elections in Germany.
Merkel's main rival in the election blamed her in an interview with ARD that she tried to impose her own rules on the only telematics they would have next Sunday, and that she was abusing her position to conduct pre-election tours.
"For many things, people feel that Merkel is out of the box," he commented.
According to the latest Deutschlandtrend poll for ARD, Christian Democrats and Christian Democrats (CDU / CSU) accounted for 38% against 22% for the SPD. But Sult has been convinced he could win the election, based on a research published last week by Der Spiegel and showing that 46% of voters remain undecided.
"I want to reach out to these undecided, and if I can, I can win the elections" on September 24, she added.
Sulc also criticized Merkel, who, according to Spiegel's latest issue, uses army and police helicopters to move to her election campaign. "He uses state resources to go to gatherings with little expense," he said.
When asked to comment on these statements, in her own interview with ZDF, Merkel replied that she "is always trying to fulfill her duties."
"And that means to be at the service of the German people, and I'm happy for next week's telematics," he added.
Sultus also reiterated that he is not interested in forming a new "big coalition" like the one who has ruled Germany over the last four years. "If (Merkel) wants to participate under my leadership, with the CDU as a minor partner, we will see, but I do not think that (the Christian Democrats) want the big coalition to continue," he concluded.
