Venezuela: "Abandoning the Constitution" denounces the opposition

The opposition in Venezuela has rejected the convening of a constitutional assembly by President Nicholas Maduro to revise the constitution of the country and calls for new protest protests in today's and tomorrow's day.

From dawn today, protesters are planning to block large roads and roads across the country and start preparing for a giant tomorrow demonstration against "the coup and the defeat of the constitution."

Tonight, Parliament, the only state institution controlled by the opposition, will discuss the consequences of Nicola Maduro's decision.

Maduro announced yesterday to thousands of supporters who had gathered in the center of Caracas for a May morning convening a drafting assembly.

At the same time, other districts of the capital and other cities held demonstrations demanding the resignation of Maduro and the announcement of early elections. As ever, they were marked by clashes between protesters and security forces.
