The CIA has set up a special unit dealing exclusively with North Korea


The CIA announced it has set up a special unit, which will be responsible for assessing the nuclear threat from North Korea.

It is the first unit of the US intelligence service that deals with one country and which will pool the resources of many units and analyze the information about Pyongyang's nuclear and ballistic program.

Its creation was announced at the time there are fears that North Korea is about to proceed to a sixth nuclear test soon, which will further exacerbate the tension in East Asia.

The US has not ruled out a preventive blow against North Korea to prevent it from developing a nuclear missile.

"The threats facing our country are evolving, so the CIA must also evolve to cope with it," explained Jonathan Liu, a spokesman for the CIA.

"The creation of a mission center for Korea allows us to integrate and direct the CIA's efforts more effectively (to address) serious threats against the US and its allies coming from North Korea," the director of the Mike Pombeo in a statement.
