A man opened fire yesterday Tuesday in Fresno, central California, killing three people and injuring a quarter before handing it over to the police, authorities said.
Corri Ali Muhammad, 39, known by the nickname "Black Jesus," called out "Allah Ahab" (Allah is the greatest) when the police arrested him, said Mark Hudson, a police officer in Fresno.
The policeman said Mohammad had written to his Facebook account, and said at the time of his arrest that he abhors the whites and the government.
Fresno police commander Jerry Dave told local reporters at a press conference that researchers do not believe it is a terrorist act but a "racist" crime.
Actor Vincent Taylor's father told Los Angeles Times that his son was persuaded to take part in a war between the white and the black and that he had told him that "a battle will soon be held."
Muhammad was already wanted by the authorities before yesterday's murders as he suspected he had killed a security agent last week in front of a Fresno hotel.
Dave pointed out that all victims were white men, including the security services agent.
Mohammad opened fire at about 10:45 (local time, 20:45 hours) at four different locations in the city center.
According to the police, the perpetrator has a criminal record as he has violated the legislation on arms, drugs and has launched threats that have been termed "terrorist". Mohammad was at times homeless and a member of criminal organizations.
He is accused of four murders and two attempted homicides, according to the authorities.
