A machine gun and three pounds of explosives were found in an apartment in Marseilles

A machine gun, two revolvers and three pounds of TATP explosives were among the weapons found in an apartment in Marseilles by police officers who prevented a terrorist attack to be made in the coming days before Sunday's presidential elections, as announced tonight Paris Prosecutor Francois Moleen.

The two Frenchmen who were arrested in Marseilles, southern France, were also in possession of a flag of the Islamic State and propaganda material of the jihadists.

The suspects, Cleman Bayer, 22, and Maiden M, 29, are both French nationals. They are said to be preparing for "a violent action, directly on French soil, but we are not able to accurately determine the day and the goal or goals," Moleen added at a press conference he gave.

The two Frenchmen met in the prison where they shared the same cell. They were known to the authorities who believed that radical Islam had been taken.

According to Moleen, one of his old houses had previously been a banner of the Islamic State, while the latter was believed to have ties to a jihadist core in Belgium.

In the apartment of the two youngsters in Marseilles, besides TATP, an explosive for the Jihadists, they found an improvised grenade, many weapons and ammunition.
