Francois Fillon did not withdraw from the race for president


The Republican candidate for president of France Francois Fillon confirmed in an interview with the Journal du Dimanche newspaper that decided to continue his campaign though challenged by the scandal armomisthias his wife.

The risk of losing the Republicans a majority in parliament from the National Front "led to the decision to go to the end," he said. "This decision was not easy ... Of course assess the situation, I decided not to heat" the former premier said.

According to him, the withdrawal from the "race" for president would leave France without a "credible" candidate and could lead the country into crisis.

The same paper also says that economic prosecutors investigating the case of Penelope Fillon probably will not put in the file but in the week to press charges.

The scandal erupted in late January, when the satirical newspaper Canard Enchaine revealed that Penelope Fillon paid for years by the government as a parliamentary assistant initials of his wife and then his assistant, but never carry out its tasks.
