Wrath of Russia on missile tests prepares Ukraine

Ukraine intends to begin a two-day missile test today, a decision that has angered Russia by pushing to put the air defense of a high level of alert in the annexed Crimean peninsula.

The disagreement indicates a new escalation of tensions between the former allies whose relationship collapsed in 2014 after Russia conquered Crimea and supported the pro-Russian separatists who were fighting in eastern Ukraine.

According to the Ukraine, the tests in the southern region of Kherson, on the border with Crimea, are legal and will be completed within the framework of international obligations and international treaties.

"We will continue increasing the defense capability of our nation and will continue missile tests and education," he said yesterday Oleksandr Tourchinof, secretary of the National Security Council and Defense of Ukraine.

The Russian Foreign Ministry accused Ukraine of seeking to create "state anxiety", and raised the alert status of the air defense of the Crimea - soil and air - to a higher degree, according to Russian news media.
