The rebels withdrew today from six other major districts of Aleppo against the advance of the army and maintain control only a small pocket of the second largest city in Syria, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
"There is a complete collapse of the rebels (...) the Aleppo battle comes to an end," he told AFP Rami Abdel Rahman, director of the Centre, who stated that the rebels have withdrawn from the district bust al-Qasr, one of the most fortified and the Ferdi and KALAS.
"It is now a matter of time" Aleppo fully under the control of the regime of Bashar al-Assad said.
According to the Centre's director, under the control of insurgents remain only two major districts, the Soukari and al-Mashhad with a handful of small neighborhoods.
In al-Mashad witnesses told the AFP that the displaced who fled the areas fell into hands of the army, among them many women and children, sleeping on sidewalks or in sheltered benches small shops. Many are hungry and could not bring anything with them.
In the neighborhoods of which withdrew the rebels "are corpses in the streets," said Abdel Rahman.
The retreat of the rebels from these districts noted a few hours after the fall of Sheikh Said and Salchin districts during the buffet.
The recapture of Aleppo, which is divided by 2012, would give the regime the greatest victory against the rebels after they launched the war in Syria.
