B. Orban: Etoimazetai declare the end of the "non-liberal democracy" and "political correctness"
The result of the presidential election in the US means the end of the "non-liberal democracy period" that dominated the last two decades, said Prime Minister of Hungary, rather too encouraged by the victory of Trump.
Besides, Viktor Orban was the first European leader who had already expressed since July the strong preference for the Republican candidate. Apart from the ideological-political relevance, and Trump criticized Orban for positions to strengthen economic and political relations with Russia, suzerain of Budapest in the communist bloc and the US opponent in the Cold War.
"It's the second day of a historic event, which Western civilization seems that successfully breaks the shackles of an ideology," he said during a conference organized by the European Reconstruction and Development Bank in Budapest.
"I feel that we live in the days when what we call non-liberal democracy- which lived for the past 20 years- ends and we return to real democracy," said the prime minister of Hungary.
The Hungarian prime minister also said that he feels that it is time for politicians to cut the shackles of political correctness.
Orban has come into conflict with the European Union authorities to introduce reforms affecting the independence of the Hungarian judiciary and central bank. The metal fence along the Hungarian border to address refugee flows from the Middle East put him in the crosshairs of human rights defense organizations.
