Declared safe by authorities in London City Airport


Safe declared the London City Airport because members of emergency services not found any evidence that chemical fire broke out.

"Two complete inspections of the (terminal building) airport conducted jointly by firefighters and police officers with protective equipment," explained the London Fire Service. "We found no indication of above normal and ventilated building, investigated and declared safe," he added.

The London City Airport was evacuated earlier today and an ambulance of the British capital said that the first aid was offered to 26 people who experienced breathing problems after a "chemical fire," according to preliminary information that ultimately were not confirmed.

The Fire Department was called to the airport shortly after 16:00 local time (18:00 GMT) and there were reports of a "chemical incident" at the airport. According to the same source, "about 500 members of the traveling public and staff (airport) removed and there were reports that a number of passengers was not feeling well."

Central London emergency announced that four ambulance crews and members of the High Risk Area Response Team went to the point. According to the same source, first aid offered to 26 individuals and two were transferred to hospitals.

The London Metropolitan Police said he was also invited to the London City Airport shortly after 16:00.

Under the direction of the airport, the passengers was called to leave the terminal when sounded alarm fire. Scheduled departures were canceled, while many incoming flights diverted to other airports.

The London City Airport is the smallest international airport in Britain's capital.

A police spokesman, questioned whether the event can be a terrorist act, replied that the cause is unknown at this time, however, he added that addressing the incident took firefighters.
