Mecklenburg-Pomerania: Agony for the election result to Merkel region

Mecklenburg-Pomerania state vote today for the local Parliament. How powerful would become the populist, xenophobic, anti-European far-right party Alternative (AfD) for Germany?

Over 100 journalists from around the world are gathered in the palace of Schwerin, capital city of the German state, to watch local hand, but with nationwide scope elections in the northeastern German state.

Until now represented in parliament of Schwerin five parties. Strongest party had emerged in the elections of 2011 sosialdimokrtiko (SPD) at the rate of 35.6% and 27 seats, second the Christian Democratic party (CDU) with 23.0% and 18 seats. The two parties coalition with Prime Minister popular Erwin Seleringk. Strongest opposition party emerged in 2011 the Left Party (Die Linke) with 18.4% and 14 seats. The Greens received 8.7% and 7 seats. The neo-Nazi party (NPD) with 6% remained in the local Parliament (the limit is 5%) and obtained 5 seats. Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is the only German state in which the neo-Nazi party represented in the local parliament of a total of 16 Länder and even repeatedly.

Many of the votes in the NPD may now be "moving in the far-right party Alternative for Germany (AfD). In fact, according to opinion polls might become a second party, with 21-23% of the vote. Pollsters however until now fell out and AfD has taken on all states which have become larger percentages elections. Mecklenburg-Pomerania will be the ninth state in which you enter the AfD.

The best outcome had until now the AfD in Saxony-Anhalt (24.3%). " Some even fear that the AfD will become the first party in Mecklenburg-Pomerania, possibly surpassing the Christian Democratic party (CDU) Mrs. Merkel, whose constituency is in this state.

However, according to the polls the SPD will receive 28% of the vote and will become again the first party, which would be required rather the current Social Democrat Prime Minister Erwin Seleringk, whom the vote over 60% if the prime minister elected directly. The CDU will take 20 to 22% in tert -until now the Left Party 13 to 15%, Greens 5-6% and therefore probably remain in the local Parliament. The Liberal Party (FDP) and the neo-Nazi NPD will receive 2-3% and will not be represented in the parliament of Schwerin.

If confirmed by the polls, then Social Democrats and Christian Democrats will continue to govern even with a narrow majority. In theory it could be done and the so-called red-red-green (Social Democrats-Left-Greens) coalition with Prime Minister again Erwin Seleringk, but the scenario is considered unlikely. Social Democrats, Christian Democrats, Greens and the Left, however, exclude a coalition with the AfD
