The M. Rajoy negotiations to form a government with Ciudadanos
The caretaker Prime Minister of Spain Mariano Rajoy received the "green light" from the conservative Popular Party (PP) in order to negotiate with the centrist Ciudadanos forming a government, today announced himself.
The leadership of the PP met earlier to discuss a package of political reforms six-point which has recommended the Ciudadanos. The centrist party featuring reforms prerequisite to support a government led by Rajoy.
"Spain needs a government now," Rajoy said at a press conference. At the same time he warned that it is impossible to form a government and to end the political stalemate, which dragged on for nearly eight months, if the Socialist Workers Party (PSOE) did not support it in any way in the process of providing confidence vote in parliament.
Without the PSOE, which repeats at every opportunity that it would vote against a government under the PP, Rajoy lacks the necessary parliamentary majority to proceed with the formation of a government with Prime Minister himself.
