Putin-Erdogan meeting in early August

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan will meet in Russia in early August, announced today the Kremlin, confirming information reported Turkish media.

"Messrs Putin and Erdogan agreed to meet within the first ten days of August. This will be done in Russia, "he told reporters Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

"We are in the process of clarification of the place and the date" of the meeting, he added.

On Sunday, Putin spoke by phone with Erdogan and wished to restore as soon as political stability after the attempted military coup in Turkey, and asked him the same time guarantee the safety of Russian tourists.

On the same day the Turkish state Anatolian news agency had broadcast that the two leaders plan to meet in the first week of August, without specifying where.
