N. Stertzon: Scotland ready to veto the legislation Brexit

The Scottish parliament will consider the possibility to block the legislation for the exit of Britain from the EU, if this is necessary to protect Scottish interests, Prime Minister of Scotland Nicola Stertzon said today, while a German MP and ally of Chancellor Angela Merkel argued that an independent Scotland would be welcome to join the EU.

Scotland, where they live five million people voted to stay in the EU by 62% compared to 38% in a referendum Thursday, in contrast to the whole of the United Kingdom, voted by 52% compared with 48% in favor of Brexit.

Under the complicated arrangements that have been made in the United Kingdom to decentralize certain powers to Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, the legislation will be adopted in London in order to implement the decision for withdrawal from the EU, should win the consent of three devolved parliaments.

Asked by the BBC television if you would consider to ask the Scottish parliament to block the legislative consent, the Stertzon replied: "Of course."

"If the Scottish parliament considers the matter on the basis of what is good for Scotland, then the choice to say that we will vote on something that is against the interests of Scotland, of course, will be on the table."
