Brussels: Alarm bomb in a shopping center - suspect arrested



Alarm bomb signaled dawn in City2 Shopping Mall in the center of Brussels, a suspect was arrested, the federal prosecutor of Belgium announced, reported the Belga news agency. Fake explosive belt worn by the suspect, according to the prosecution. "So far they have not found explosives," the prosecutor said.

The alarm sounded at 06.30 local time when man identified suspicious behavior near the shopping center, according to the RTL television network.

Prime Minister Charles Michel presided over the morning after an emergency meeting of the National Security Council, according to Belgian media.

"Privileges present, the situation is under control," said Belgian Prime Minister following completion of the meeting. "The security services are fully alert."

Many of the subway entrances to the mall excluded and armed soldiers are visible in this region, according to information of journalist AFP.

A police spokesman in Brussels said that the shops of the area around the shopping center are closed until further notice.
