American cruise ship traveled to Cuba for the first time in 50 years
H Cuba welcomed the first American cruise ship after half a century, in the context of a thaw diplomatic relations between Washington and Havana.
Yesterday, shortly before 10.30 local time (17:30 Greek time), company Adonia ship Fathom, a subsidiary of the US group Carnival's, prosedese the port of Havana where an enthusiastic crowd awaited holding flags of the two countries, according to a journalist French Agency.
"For me, it is incredible, very moving," said AFP Jana Kachigal, a dancer aged 32 years who went to welcome her niece that was traveling by boat.
Passengers of the cruise ship "we welcome them with the flags of Cuba and the US and wishes for unity, peace and tranquility," she added.
The Adonia with 12 decks sailed from Miami with 700 passengers and will make a cruise one week making the rounds of the island.
