The EU-Turkey agreement can be implemented without the abolition of visas, Davutoglu warns
The Prime Minister of Turkey Ahmet Davutoglu warned that the European Union-Turkey agreement on readmission of refugees can not be implemented without the liberalization of the EU visa regime for Turkish citizens.
"The issue of abolishing the visa is of vital importance for Turkey," Davutoglu said during a joint press conference with Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel, the President of the European Council Donald Tusk and European Commission's first vice-France Timmermans after completion of their visit to refugee camp in Gaziantep region.
The Turkish prime minister expressed his "belief" about the fact that the European Union will do what is necessary on this issue, which is a "promise of the Turkish government towards its people."
Turkey is the best example in the world in the treatment of refugees, told from the perspective of the European Council President Donald Tusk.
"Today Turkey is the best example in the world for how we should treat refugees," said Donald Tusk during a joint press conference in Gaziantep.
