Vretanias- US agreement - EU exchange of nuclear waste for medical use

British Prime Minister David Cameron is expected to announce today an agreement between his country, the European Atomic Energy Community (CEEA or Euratom) and the US on the exchange of nuclear waste for medical purposes, during the summit on nuclear security in Washington.

"We will announce a historic agreement with the United States and Euratom to convert nuclear waste in cancer treatment," said a source of the British government. The agreement provides that Britain will carry 700 pounds in the US enriched uranium to be stored there while the US will send the Euratom enriched uranium "in a different form to be used in European reactors to produce isotopes, which are intended for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases such as thyroid cancer, "he explained.

According to London, will be the largest transfer of enriched uranium ever recorded.
