Returning to Turkey 76 irregular migrants held by the Hellenic Police
Epaneisdochi in Turkey a total of 76 irregular migrants held today, Thursday, March 24, 2016, through the Border Crossing Point of Kipi in Evros.
The 65 by 76 irregular migrants were handed to the Turkish authorities for the purposes of the Readmission Protocol between Greece and Turkey. It is 40 from Pakistan, 11 from Bangladesh, six from Morocco, seven from Algeria and one from Tunisia. The remaining 11, all Turkish citizenship, delivered following the recent EU Readmission Agreement - Turkey.
Since the Hellenic Police Headquarters indicated that from January 1, 2016 until today, the readmission to Turkey has been based on the provisions of the Readmission Protocol between Greece and Turkey, a total of 673 irregular migrants (226 from Pakistan, 31 from Bangladesh , 268 from Morocco, 144 from Algeria and 4 in Tunisia), while based on the readmission Agreement EU-Turkey readmission total of 22 Turkish nationals were taken.
The submission of a readmission requests from the relevant department of the Headquarters of the Greek Police continues
