John Kerry: Extreme urgency to prevent new attack in Europe


The attacks of the Islamic State in Brussels demonstrate the urgent need to prevent such acts of terrorism in Europe, said today the US Secretary of State John Kerry.

The double suicide bombing at the airport and metro Belgian capital took place only four months after the coordinated attacks in Paris. In both cases the responsibility taken by the jihadists of IK.

"I think we are all concerned because for many years foreign fighters returning from Syria or other war epieroches and hiding in the (European) communities," said the head of American diplomacy in an interview on the show Face the Nation TV CBS network.

He said Washington is in contact with the Belgian authorities for some time in order to "fill the gaps" which they know Brussels. but insisted, in reply to a question, that "is clearly an urgent need" for Europe to prevent a new attack like that of Brussels or Paris.

Kerry, who visited Brussels immediately after the attacks, also said that the Prime Minister of Belgium Charles Michel said clearly that "the government knows that it should implement measures".
