37 dead in the attack in the heart of Ankara
Three persons succumbed to their injuries in hospital bringing to 37 the death toll from the car bomb attack which occurred late yesterday afternoon in the center of Ankara, Health Minister Mehmet Mouezinoglou announced today. "We lost our three people to the hospital. So far 37 people have died in this terrorist attack," he told reporters, stating that among the victims among the perpetrator of the attack. A woman member of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), believed to be one of the two suspects made yesterday's attack, security services officials said. "We believe that one of the perpetrators is a woman who had connections with the PKK," said the official who asked not to be named. Authorities announced that at least one of the perpetrators of the attack was killed and spoke of the possibility that there is a second "kamikaze".
There is evidence that one of the bombers was a woman, a member of the PKK, who joined the organization separatist Kurdish rebels in 2013, according to the security services officials.
Meanwhile, the Turkish police arrested four people in southeastern Turkey today as allegedly related epithesi.To Turkish agency cites sources from the security services under which the four persons arrested and detained in Sanliurfa city, located north of the border with Syria, after it was revealed that the vehicle used in the attack was purchased by a showroom there.
The four arrested are expected to be converted in Ankara.
Meanwhile Reuters news agency reported citing sources from the security services that the second alleged bomber was a Turkish national and was associated with fighters of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).
The President Prokopis Pavlopoulos had a telephone conversation with President of Turkey Tayyip Erdogan, which expressed the heartfelt condolences of the Greek people for the innocent victims of yesterday's terrorist attack in Ankara and unequivocal condemnation of this attack.
Mr. Erdogan thanked warmly the President and asked him to convey these thanks to the Greek people, while stressing that the fight against terrorism both Peoples fully in solidarity.
