Humanitarian aid to Syria UN sends
The United Nations and partner aid agencies are planning to send humanitarian aid to 154,000 Syrians who are engulfed parts of the country within the next five days, said the UN coordinator in Damascus Yacoub El Hilo.
Provided no approval by the warring parties, the United Nations is ready to send aid to 1.7 million people in inaccessible areas of Syria in the first quarter of 2016, he added.
The UN estimates that around 500,000 people are living under siege in Syria, from the 4.6 million that are difficult to reach help, but hopes that the ceasefire which came into effect Friday will end in 15 sieges.
"It's the best chance he had in the last five years the Syrian people for peace and stability," said El Hilo. "But we all know that without a substantial political process and political solution, the cessation of hostilities and humanitarian aid is not enough to end the crisis in Syria."
The UN hopes to send help tomorrow Moantamigia, the fourth in Zampantani, Koufregia, foie and Mantagia and Friday in Kafr Batna.
But the cessation of hostilities does not affect the larger siege 200,000 people in Deir ez-Zor, because the agreement does not involve the forces of the Islamic State.
The UN attempted to throw there by air assistance last week, but due to the strong winds, 21 tons landed off target food, while in other cases not opened parachutes and supplies were destroyed.
