The German foreign ministry today called on the North Koreans and the Americans to show "restraint" after the "escalation in statements" between President Donald Trumb and Pyongyang, who were mutually threatened with military retaliation.
"We are watching with the greatest concern the escalation in statements on the Korean Peninsula, the situation is truly serious. Adding the sound of the military boots will certainly not improve things, the military route can not be a solution, "the ministry spokesman Martin Scheffer said.
"We therefore call on all parties to show restraint," he added.
Donald Trab launched war threats against North Korea because of its military ambitions, promising "fire and rage," while Pyongyang said it was considering launching missiles to the American soil of the island of Guam.
The statements by the US President marked a clear escalation in Washington rhetoric over the North Korean ballistic missile and nuclear programs, which prompted a seventh aspect of UN sanctions last weekend in Pyongyang.
