The new trend sweeping the United States called survivalistes, a word that can not be attributed to one word in the Greek, but periphrastically.
Survivalistes are those who are preparing for their survival after a nuclear disaster, even after a large earthquake. They learn that to live in nature, dependent only from this as their ancestors lived. Practice in survival techniques and looking for food in the forest and the sea, rivers, lakes. All you want is a backpack and is ready to leave. However, the theory of survivalistes longer finds followers only among some enlightened living in the forest. It became fashionable and between managers and large investors in Silicon Valley, according to Articles big American magazines.
Guns, bows and arrows
The 33 year old Steve Hoffman, co-founder of Reddit (a great online platform whose value is estimated at 600 ekat.dolaria), made with laser surgery on the eyes because Disaster wants, he says, to increase his chances of survival without time glasses or contact lenses. At home he has motorcycles, weapons, ammunition, stored food. "I'm prepared for whatever may occur," he explains.
Also, a former top executive of Facebook has bought a few acres of forest on an island in the North Pacific, where installed generators, solar panels, and much ammunition. Not far away from residential areas, has a theory: "we can not survive alone, we need to create a local militia."
Director of a digital platform prefers not to use guns, but bows. Another, head of a large investment fund, has a helicopter with a full tank ready to take off, and has built a shelter equipped with air filtration system. even says that many friends have done the same. Many love to buy houses in various parts of the world where, as they say, nuclear disaster. The most popular destination is New Zealand.
"Saying that I have bought a house or an area in New Zealand is like to shut the other eye, it means something specific," says Hoffman. Why chosen New Zealand? In the words of an American who lives and works there, the country is self-sufficient in raw materials, there is great freedom in the press, the government is among the most incorruptible, while, according to a global banking survey, overtook Singapore as the best country for business.
For what we speak? For perhaps a marginal phenomenon? Probably not, obviously. One of these new-survivalist estimates that at least half of the millionaires of Silicon Valley prepared, each in his own way. But it is difficult to assess precisely. Most prefer not to talk about it for the simple reason that the dawn of the "last day" does not want to see them crowded beside their neighbors.
"We live on a very thin ice"
The question of course is why this phenomenon particularly affects the very wealthy Silicon Valley. Let's try to give some answers.
One of the high-tech survivalists formulate a hypothesis: Those who are more into things understand that we live on a very thin ice. They know more than others at which point we depend on technology and how sensitive to attacks technologies.
But there is an additional hypothesis: some fear of repercussions, spasmodic movements of errors which led throughout the American Society Silicon Valley. In conclusion, these people who became rich by automating labor, relegating their industries fear a rebellion against them (seeing that in mind, the destruction is not necessarily physical, can be both human ...). Do not forget that the new US president, Donald Trump, has accused the Silicon Valley that does not create enough jobs.
