Juncker: There will be no abolition of the visa, if Turkey does not fulfill all EU criteria
The European Commission President Jean - Claude Juncker warned Turkey today that there will be no abolition of visas for Turks citizens traveling in the European Union, if all the prescribed conditions, mainly a change of counter-terrorism legislation are not met.
"We insist on the importance to fulfill the prescribed conditions, if not, the agreement will not see the light of day," Juncker said during a conference held at the German Foreign Ministry.
"If the strategy Mr. Erdogan is to block travel Turks freely in Europe, will have to answer for it to the Turkish people. It is not my problem, it's his problem," added the Luxembourg European Commission president .
On his part, the Turkish president today denounced "the hypocrisy" of the European Union saying that a relaxation of counter-terrorism legislation is unacceptable in Turkey which faces the revival of the Kurdish uprising.
German Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel also stated today in Berlin that Turkey will not be entitled to any relaxation of the conditions set by the European Union.
