Taliban attack near Kabul airport - 1 dead
At least one civilian was killed and 13 others wounded in a Taliban suicide car bomb attack today near Kabul airport, the aim of which was probably, NATO troops, said the Afghan Interior Ministry.
"One civilian was killed and 13 others were injured, among them three women, the car bomb" near the airport, said Sentik Sentiki, spokesman for the Interior Ministry, in Twitter.
The aim of the attack was "a convoy of foreign troops," said Najib Danis, the same ministry.
The Taliban insurgents, through their representative Zampioulach Mujahid immediately claimed responsibility for the attack via Twitter.
According to Reuters cited a police officer who was on the point, a suicide bomber who was walking on a road near the airport in Kabul headed in a white van which apparently would enter.
The bomber detonated explosives which were belted causing casualties and property damage.
Van also destroyed by the explosion smashed windows of nearby stores. According to the director of police, target of the attack which occurred in a densely populated area was also cause terror among civilians.
The Taliban often target the nearly 13,000 foreign troops in Afghanistan which is called "invaders".
Before just a week, six US soldiers were killed in a suicide attack that had organized the rebels near the base of Bagram, north of Kabul.
But today's attack marked the day of the visit to Kabul of Rachil Sharif, chief of the General Staff of the Pakistan Army, whose country is considered in Afghanistan "protector" of the Afghan Taliban.
General Sharif and the president of Afghanistan Ashraf Gani agreed to a four-party meeting in January with China and the US to establish a roadmap for the revival of peace talks with the Taliban, who have been suspended since last summer's announcement death of Mullah Omar, leader of the extremist movement.
